IntimPicks is an independent review publication dedicated to intimate wellness products. We approach every device as a piece of consumer engineering: what it is made of, how it is built, how loud it is, how long it runs and how easy it is to keep clean. Our goal is to help adults make informed, safe choices without marketing noise.
Our approach
Intimate wellness is a health-adjacent product category, and we treat it with the same rigour as any other. Our reviews are written in neutral, clinical language and focus on measurable or verifiable characteristics rather than subjective hype.
- Independence: manufacturers and retailers cannot pay for a review, a rating or a position in our rankings.
- Consistency: every product is scored against the same criteria, so ratings are comparable across brands and categories.
- Transparency: we explain where our data comes from and clearly disclose affiliate relationships.
Our evaluation standards
Each review follows the same structured framework.
Acoustics
We report noise levels in decibels (dB) and translate them into everyday reference points: around 40 dB is comparable to a library, around 50 dB to a quiet office, and around 60 dB to a normal conversation. Unless a review explicitly states that a figure was measured, noise levels are approximate values based on manufacturer data and published information.
Materials and biocompatibility
We favour non-porous, body-safe materials such as medical-grade silicone and check for phthalate-free composition. We review the material and safety documentation that manufacturers publish, including references to recognised standards and markings such as CE, RoHS or REACH where available. We do not certify products ourselves, and a reference to a standard in a review is not a guarantee of compliance.
Waterproofing
We explain each product’s declared IP rating. For example, IPX7 means protection against temporary immersion in water up to one metre for up to 30 minutes, which makes thorough cleaning much easier.
Battery, ergonomics and hygiene
We assess run time and charging design, shape and grip, the clarity of the controls, and how easily a device can be cleaned, dried and stored.
