The LELO Dot and the Womanizer Liberty 2 are both compact external devices with eight settings and up to two hours of run time, but they work in very different ways. The Dot concentrates vibration through a narrow, soft tip that moves in an elliptical pattern; the Liberty 2 uses air-pulse stimulation in a small body built for travel, with a protective cover case and a travel lock. This comparison is based on manufacturer specifications, published product documentation and the mechanics of each design.

Quick verdict

Choose the LELO Dot if…

  • you prefer precise, pinpoint stimulation from direct contact rather than air pressure;
  • you like to steer the sensation: LELO explains that the intensity felt changes with the pressure and angle of its soft, bendable tip;
  • you want a device LELO describes as 100% waterproof, with a 90-day standby charge.

Choose the Womanizer Liberty 2 if…

  • you want simple two-button control and up to 120 minutes of use, according to Womanizer;
  • you prefer indirect stimulation, which many people find gentler on sensitive tissue than direct vibration;
  • you travel with it: a 90 g body, a cover case with a magnetic closure and a travel lock.

Both are rated 4.3/5 and both use body-safe silicone. The LELO Dot is our top pick in the external vibrator ranking for its precision; the Liberty 2 ranks fifth in our air-pulse ranking as the best option for travel. The choice comes down to the type of stimulation you prefer, then to where you will use it: the Liberty 2 is the one designed for travel.

Specifications side by side

Values from manufacturer data and published product documentation (lelo.com and womanizer.com). Noise levels are approximate, not laboratory measurements: the Dot figure is LELO’s stated maximum, the Liberty 2 figure is the approximate value shown in our review. Run times are upper figures and vary with the intensity used. We do not list prices, which change often: both sit above the entry level, the Liberty 2 in the mid-range and the Dot in LELO’s premium segment.

Technology: elliptical vibration vs air-pulse

LELO Dot: Infinite Loop

The Dot transmits vibration through direct contact. LELO describes its Infinite Loop technology as an elliptical trajectory, inspired by the infinity symbol, rather than a circular one, combined with a soft, bendable tip. LELO lists a vibration frequency of 133 Hz and eight settings, and explains that the strength and intensity felt depend on the pressure and the angle of use. The result is a precise, focused sensation that suits people who already know where they want stimulation. There is no air-pulse or suction function.

Womanizer Liberty 2: Pleasure Air

The Liberty 2 works without a vibrating surface pressed against the skin. A small chamber behind the head changes volume rhythmically, so the air pocket enclosed between the head and the skin alternates between gentle suction and pressure. Womanizer calls its implementation Pleasure Air. The Liberty 2 offers eight intensity levels; Womanizer does not list Autopilot or Smart Silence for this model.

In short, the Dot gives direct, steerable vibration on a small point; the Liberty 2 gives indirect stimulation over the area covered by its head. Neither manufacturer publishes a comparable measure of output strength, so we do not rank them on power: start at a low setting on either device and increase gradually.

Ergonomics and travel

The Dot is slim and elongated, at 165 × 60 × 46 mm and 98 g according to LELO, with three buttons on the handle and the tip at one end. The length makes the tip easy to aim, which is the point of its design. It comes with a satin storage pouch, and it switches off automatically after 20 minutes, but LELO does not list a travel lock.

The Liberty 2 is shorter and lighter, at 105 × 50 × 40 mm and around 90 g according to Womanizer. Its cover case slides over the device and closes magnetically, so the head stays protected in a bag, and its travel lock keeps it from switching on by accident and draining the battery. If you travel often, the Liberty 2 is the more practical choice; for use at home, the Dot’s longer handle gives more control over positioning.

Acoustic discretion

LELO states a maximum noise level of 60 dB for the Dot, comparable to a normal conversation; at lower settings the Dot is quieter, but LELO does not publish a figure per setting. Womanizer publishes no noise level for the Liberty 2, so we cannot say which one is quieter. The Liberty 2’s travel lock does keep it from switching on, and making noise, in a bag.

Both sound quieter in use than on a table, because soft tissue and bedding absorb part of the sound, while hard surfaces amplify it. Brands measure noise in different ways, so treat any figure as approximate. For the physics behind these figures, see our noise and decibel guide.

Battery, waterproofing and care

On paper, run time is a tie: up to 2 hours for the Dot according to LELO, and up to 120 minutes for the Liberty 2 according to Womanizer. Charging is quicker on the Liberty 2, at about 60 minutes through a magnetic cable, against up to 2 hours through the Dot’s USB charging cord. The Dot holds its charge for up to 90 days in standby. Higher settings shorten the run time on both.

  • Waterproofing: the Liberty 2 is rated IPX7, which allows temporary immersion up to one metre for up to 30 minutes. LELO describes the Dot as 100% waterproof but does not state an IP rating. Both can be rinsed thoroughly and used in the shower; neither is designed for prolonged use underwater.
  • Cleaning: after every use, rinse under warm running water, wash with a mild, fragrance-free soap or a dedicated toy cleaner, and rinse again. On the Liberty 2, rinse inside the head carefully.
  • Drying and storage: let both dry completely before storage or charging. The Liberty 2’s cover case protects the head once dry but does not replace cleaning; store the Dot in its pouch. Keep both away from devices made of porous materials such as jelly or TPE.
  • Charging: make sure the charging contacts or connection point are clean and completely dry. Never charge a wet device.
  • Lubricant: use a water-based lubricant; silicone-based lubricants can degrade silicone surfaces over time. Learn what to look for in materials in our guide to body-safe silicone and materials.

Frequently asked questions

Which is quieter, the LELO Dot or the Womanizer Liberty 2?

We cannot say on a figure: LELO states a maximum of 60 dB for the Dot, comparable to a normal conversation, while Womanizer publishes no noise level for the Liberty 2. The Dot is quieter at lower settings, but LELO does not publish a figure for each setting.

How does the LELO Dot’s stimulation differ from the Liberty 2’s?

The Dot uses direct vibration through a narrow, soft tip that moves in an elliptical pattern, so the sensation is focused on a small point and changes with the angle and pressure of the tip. The Liberty 2 uses air-pulse stimulation: rhythmic changes in air pressure inside its head, which gives a more indirect sensation over the area it covers.

Which is better for travel?

The Womanizer Liberty 2. It is shorter and lighter, its cover case closes magnetically over the head, and its travel lock prevents it from switching on in a bag. The Dot comes with a satin pouch and switches off automatically after 20 minutes, but LELO does not list a travel lock.
