The Doxy Die Cast Max Plug-in is a mains-powered wand massager built around a die-cast aluminium body and a broad silicone head. Doxy’s former “Die Cast” product page now redirects to this model, which is the brand’s current plug-in flagship. This review is based on Doxy’s official product page and published specifications; we have not run laboratory or acoustic tests.

Design & Ergonomics
The Die Cast Max is a full-size wand: Doxy lists a length of 336 mm, a head diameter of 63 mm and a weight of 853 g, which makes it the heaviest device in our catalogue, well above the Magic Wand Rechargeable (around 590 g) and the LELO Smart Wand 2 Large (around 383 g). Doxy presents that weight as part of the design: the heavy metal body helps the wand rest in place, so that the vibration does more of the work and the hand has less to do.
The body is die-cast aluminium with a painted finish (Doxy offers Silver, Purple and Black). The controls sit on a three-button sealed control unit on the handle, reachable without changing grip. The trade-off of a metal wand of this size is handling: over a long session, 853 g is noticeable in the hand, and the 3 m cable means the wand is used near a socket rather than carried around.
Motor, Intensity Levels & Mains Power
Doxy lists a maximum speed of 7,600 revolutions per minute, eight intensity levels and a pulse mode in addition to standard vibration. The brand describes the vibration as a low-frequency “rumble” and says the metal body helps carry it into the head. Doxy does not publish a power rating or a comparable output figure, so we do not compare its strength numerically with other wands.
The defining choice is power: the Die Cast Max runs on mains power through a 3 m cable, with what Doxy describes as worldwide compatibility. With no battery, there is no run time to manage, no charging between sessions and no loss of intensity as a battery runs down. Doxy also lists an automatic switch-off after 30 minutes, so long sessions require switching it back on. If you need a cordless wand, the LELO Smart Wand 2 and the Magic Wand Rechargeable are the alternatives in our ranking.
Body-Safe Materials
The handle is die-cast aluminium and the head, the part that touches the skin, is silicone. Doxy states that the silicone head is bonded in place to protect the internal components from moisture and must not be removed, so the head is not interchangeable and cannot be detached for cleaning. Non-porous silicone is easy to clean with soap and water; learn what to look for in manufacturer documentation in our guide to body-safe silicone and materials.
Use a water-based lubricant: silicone-based lubricants can degrade silicone surfaces over time. Oil-based products are harder to clean off and are generally not recommended by manufacturers.
Noise Level (dB) & Discretion
Doxy gives an approximate operating noise of 55 to 75 dB, depending on the intensity. Following our usual rule, we display the stated maximum, around 75 dB, which makes the Die Cast Max the loudest device in our catalogue at its highest settings. At the lower levels, the bottom of Doxy’s range is comparable to a quiet conversation. Doxy frames its approach as “depth, not noise”: a large, low-frequency motor produces a deep hum rather than a high-pitched buzz, but it is still clearly audible. For the physics behind these figures, see our noise and decibel guide.
If discretion matters, start at the lower intensity levels, use the wand on soft surfaces rather than a hard table, and, if a stated noise level matters, see our quiet devices ranking.
Waterproofing, Hygiene & Care
The Die Cast Max is not waterproof. Doxy describes it as splash-protected against accidental contact with liquid, but as a mains-powered device it must never be submerged or used in water.
- Unplug first: always disconnect the wand from the mains before cleaning.
- Head: clean the silicone head with a cloth dampened with warm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap or a dedicated toy cleaner, then wipe it with a clean damp cloth. Do not try to remove the bonded head.
- Body and controls: wipe the metal body and the sealed control unit with a damp cloth; never run it under the tap.
- Drying: let the wand dry completely before plugging it in again.
- Storage: store it coiled loosely, without kinking the cable, away from direct sunlight and from products made of porous materials.
Our device cleaning and material care guide sets out the wipe-only routine for mains-powered and non-waterproof wands step by step.
Who It’s For (and Who Should Skip It)
Who it’s for
The Die Cast Max suits people who want a full-size wand with deep, low-frequency vibration and no battery to think about: mains power, eight intensity levels plus pulse, a sturdy die-cast aluminium body and simple sealed controls make it a dependable choice for use at home, near a socket.
Who should skip it
Those who need discretion should look elsewhere: at up to around 75 dB it is the loudest device we list. Those who want a cordless or waterproof wand should consider the LELO Smart Wand 2, which can be rinsed under running water, and anyone who finds heavy tools tiring should note its 853 g weight.
Verdict
The Doxy Die Cast Max Plug-in earns a 4.4 rating and second place in our wand ranking, between the LELO Smart Wand 2 and the Magic Wand Rechargeable. Its strengths are those of a mains-powered flagship: no battery to charge or wear out, eight intensity levels plus a pulse mode, a die-cast aluminium body and a sealed three-button control unit.
The trade-offs are just as clear: it is the loudest device in our catalogue at its stated maximum (around 75 dB), it is not waterproof, its silicone head is bonded and cannot be removed for cleaning, and at 853 g on a 3 m cable it is a wand for use at home. Compare it with the other models in our wand massager ranking.
